Best Celebrity Tattoo Inspiration & Ideas for 2024

Editorial by @aureoroma Team

(Updated in 2024) The tattoo industry has seen an unprecedented amount of new styles in the last decade than ever before. There has been a dramatic shift in taste and societal perspective on tattoos and many of these attitudes are reflected in the way celebrities sport their ink. In the age of Instagram & Tik Tok, many celebrities are utilizing their platforms to flaunt their latest body art and as a result, many of us take inspiration from these trends.

While many traditional tattoo styles will always be around, fine-line and micro tattoos are taking center stage in the 2010s and ’20s. Despite being on completely opposite sides of the spectrum, many celebrities are choosing to rock multiple tattoo trends to create their own signature style.

Celebrities have helped to elevate the status and social stigma tattoos. Tattoos in many parts of the world aren’t considered vulgar, rebellious or hardcore anymore but rather mesmerizing accessories that reflect our personalities. We’ve compiled a list of some of our personal favorite tattooed celebrities that are influencing our artistic tastes.

1. The Biebers (Justin & Hailey Bieber)

Starting off our list is the hottest Hollywood power couple that is consistently at the forefront of all the latest trends. Justin Bieber is proof that ink can transform your image exponentially.

His bad-boy persona has kept him in the spotlight since his childhood but as he’s matured his fans now see his body art as a sexy form of self-expression rather than an act of rebellion.

Many of his best pieces are based on his faith. Justin is covered in Christian motifs and biblical quotes. It seems to be that the more he gets inked the more attractive he is through the lens of his fans.

Hailey Bieber Tattoos

Hailey on the other hand has a completely different body art aesthetic but she’s perhaps even more influential than her husband from an artistic standpoint. Her tattoos, as of lately, are some of the most requested in tattoo parlors around the world for their delicate and intricate nature.

What makes Hailey’s tattoos stand out is their subtlety. It’s not so much the context or meaning behind her tattoos but rather the locations on her body that make them so desirable. Hailey seems to love accentuating the most sensuous parts of her body with tiny detailed tats.

This is a trend that will continue to soar in 2024.

2. Rihanna’s Tattoos

The Fenty Queen takes reign as one of our all-time most influential tattooed celebrities for her 25 tattoos and counting.

The reason why we love her body art is that it’s become so exemplary of her style and she’s made hand tattoos into a mainstream trend. During one of the most turbulent periods of her life in 2008, Rihanna got two of her most well-known pieces: the stream of stars down her neck and spine and her Maori-inspired hand tattoo.

While both these tattoos were at one point symbols of affection between her and her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, we now associate these artworks with her personal style rather than the context of their tumultuous relationship.

In 2013 she incorporated fine-line chevron patterns and unique Indian henna-like motifs to create a multidimensional piece that many of us are dying to imitate. Another recognizable Riri tattoo is of the Egyptian goddess Isis.

What makes this particular tattoo so captivating is the fact that it respects the traditional Hieroglyphic representation of the goddess.

We especially love the symmetry of Isis’s wings and the detail in her profile.

Rihanna's influence on tattoo culture isn't without its complexities. One particularly interesting fact is her decision to get a traditional Maori tattoo, known as a moko kauae. This sparked a debate about cultural appropriation in tattooing.

While some saw it as appreciation for Maori culture, others felt it was disrespectful to adopt a tradition with deep cultural significance without a deeper understanding or connection. The incident ignited conversations about the importance of cultural sensitivity in the tattoo world. It forced the industry to confront issues of ownership and respect for indigenous traditions.

This fact showcases the power Rihanna's tattoo choices hold. It goes beyond just inspiring people to get tattoos, but pushes the boundaries of cultural representation in the art form.

4. Miley Cyrus Tattoos: A Bold Influence on Ink Trends and Fan Inspiration

Miley Cyrus, the singer known for her individuality and trendsetting style, has also made a big impact on the world of tattoos. Her diverse collection of body art has not only sparked tattoo trends but also influenced fans to embrace self-expression through ink.

Miley Cyrus's Tattoo Collection: A Kaleidoscope of Designs

Miley Cyrus's tattoos are more than just decorative body art; they're a reflection of her personal journey and a testament to the power of self-expression. Her influence extends beyond the tattoo industry, inspiring fans to embrace their individuality and tell their stories through ink.

5. Ariana Grande

With over 55 tattoos, the Grammy award-winning artist is a major trendsetter not
just for her fashion but also for her ink.

Ariana is another starlet that likes to adorn her body with tiny tats and her fans are taking notice. In just a two-year time span the artist frequented tattoo parlors over 30 times. Ariana can be seen as a halfway point between Demi’s sentimental pieces and Miley’s quirky and frivolous ones; meaning that about half are important symbols and the other half are just for aesthetic beauty.

And, it’s all micro tattoos!

Ariana Grande's influence on the tattoo industry extends beyond just the rise of micro tattoos. She has helped to redefine the perception of tattoos as a form of self-expression, encouraging fans to embrace body art as a way to tell their stories, big or small. Whether it's a tiny tribute to a loved one or a cryptic symbol with personal meaning, Grande's journey with tattoos has empowered fans to personalize their bodies in ways that resonate with them.

We love the tattoo that represents her Italian heritage. The artist has the word ‘Bellissima’ written near her rib cage (the nickname her late grandfather gave her). Her 93-year-old grandma also got her first ever tattoo as a tribute to her late husband (the word ‘Ciccio,’ her nickname for him)- clearly for Ariana tattooing is a family affair!

That same day, Ariana got one of her most unique tattoos, an intricate fine-line crescent moon, and sun by Mira Mariah.

6. Amber Rose

This model and actress made headlines in February 2020 when she posted this
photo of her face tattoo. LA-based artist Jacob Ramirez tattooed Amber’s forehead and her fans instantly started to speculate the meaning behind the words ‘Bash and Slash’.

We soon discovered that they were her children’s names and the internet had a field day critiquing the model for ‘ruining her beautiful face.’ However you may feel about Amber, one thing we can all agree upon is her ability to turn heads.

We feel like her edgy buzz cut really compliments her tattoo and we admire her creativity. Amber has many other big and bold pieces that are mostly done in the new school realism style.

7. Post Malone

Just like Amber, Post Malone is also known for sporting audacious face tattoos that get mixed reviews from fans. Unbeknownst to many, Malone’s first tattoo was with fellow singer Justin Bieber and it was the PlayBoy bunny logo. Malone has a wide range of tattoo styles from traditional old school to fine-line realism which makes his body art stand out from the rest.

With over 77 tattoos, Post Malone ranks number one most tatted celeb on our list; fourteen of which embellish his face alone! We think the most iconic Post Malone tattoos are ‘Always Tired’ under his eyes and the portraits of famous singers on his fingers. The singers range from Elvis Presley to Kurt Cobain; emblematic of his eclectic taste in music.

Celebrities will always be the pinnacle of our artistic influences. We want to know here at Aureo Roma which trends inspire you and which celebrity’s body art
